FAIRBORN, Ohio-- Celebrate the end of a long semester in the Wright State climbing gym and enjoy a fun time with friends.
“I always take advantage of when the gym is open, I work for campus rec and it’s always fun with a group of us go,” Shayne Gossel, a junior at Wright State said. “Me and a few buddies always go after a shift, it’s a part of our work out. You can do it for fun or you can turn it into a sport and help you become more in shape.”
This event is happening on April 21 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and will be the last time that the gym is open until summer semester. You can always visit their website for more information. They will have some upbeat music and other goodies to enjoy.
“I really can’t wait for this event,” said Delaney Clymer, junior and student manager for the Wright State Fitness Center. “I work out every day so I like to stay in shape and I think rock climbing is a fun way to take your mind off some things, especially since the hard semester will be over.”
Rock climbing is great for your health according to Transcend, and article titled “11 Awesome Benefits Of Rock Climbing, And 1 Very Important One.” Some physical benefits include strong arms and shoulders, stronger back and neck, cardio improvement and powerful thigh muscles. Transcend also states psychological benefits such as you set goals, relieves stress and builds your confidence.
The most important reason as to why Transcend says rock climbing is beneficial to you is because it’s you against yourself. “It pushes you and makes you want to achieve more, and that’s a skill that’s useful not only in the climbing wall, but in every aspect of your life.”
“At campus rec we like to promote fun things to do to make people get active and have a good time doing so,” said Clymer. “And this rock climbing event is the perfect opportunity.”
