Local alternative band GoodnightGoodnight came to the Dayton Access Television studio on January 21st to perform a sample of their work. Composed of guitarist Gary Thornton, vocalist Amanda Thornton, and keyboardist Todd Herbert, they were inspired by the lives of three people very close to them.
When asked if this was their first time at the DATV studios, Gary stated that “It was our first time, and it was a ton of fun. It was weird seeing ourselves on TV; I didn’t realize how old I look!” They played a total of four songs, two new and two already released. The songs were “This Place” and “And This Day Is Ours” from their new LP titled “This Place.” They also played two new songs, titled “In Sleep” and “Control.”
Asking about their upcoming shows, Gary said, “Right now we only have a few shows lined up. We are really working on a tour.” Their next shows are on Saturday, April 8 at Rake’s End in Cincinnati, and on Monday, May 1 at Jimmie’s Ladder 11.
Lastly, I asked if they enjoyed playing for DATV, and Gary stated that “DATV was a blast. The group that puts it together, Barry and Kathey Legget, are very laid-back. There is no pressure at all. We are definitely doing it again in the future!”
GoodnightGoodnight’s new LP “This Place” is out on CDbaby.com, iTunes, Amazon, and Google Play. Their music is deep, meaningful, mesmerizing, vibing, and tasteful. So if you’re looking for new music to listen to or a show to go to, GoodnightGoodnight is the band for you!
