FAIRBORN, Ohio-- Take your knowledge from rock climbing here to the next level and adventure climbing the cliffs at John Bryan State park with Wright State.
“Rock climbing has always been a fun activity for me and my family,” said Ryan Corbitt, a sophomore at Wright State University. “My family and I always go to places like Gatlinburg in Tennessee and hike or go to places around the area. I can’t wait for the rock climbing trip to John Bryan State park!”
Wright State University states on their website to bring nothing but your positivity and your goal to reach the top of cliffs.
“The cost is $25 for everyone which includes the equipment, instructions, lunch and the transportation,” said Gabby Morrow, who is manager of campus recreation. “It’s a great way for people who use our gym to climb walls to really get out and enjoy it in nature. It’s a great opportunity to be with friends, make no friends and have an awesome experience.”
Rock climbing is also beneficial to a person’s health. According to The Huffington Post, an article called “How Rock Climbing does your mind- and body- good” rock climbing builds muscle and endurance, it boosts brain function, reduces stress and lastly it teaches valuable skills. They state that rock climbing helps you lead a happier and healthier life.
The Huffington Post also gives advice in how to take up the sport. They say by training in the gym, “it’s a great way to learn the basics and plug into your local climbing community.”
“John Bryan State park is beautiful so I’m excited for students to get out and enjoy rock climbing there,” Morrow said. “This is all happening Saturday, April 15 from 9 am to 4 pm and Wright State will be taking everyone to the park.”
